This week on the homestead we were expecting rain and got almost none. We did some small amount of gardening. We moved the larger chicks into their coop.

This week on the homestead we continued to work on the chicken run, and try to keep the baby chicks alive and healthy. There are signs on spring all around our property, with little wildflowers starting to pop up in protected areas.
Easy to make homemade Cookies and Cream Ice Cream for an ice cream maker. This recipe adds Oreo cookies to our Sweet Cream Ice Cream recipe.
This Week on the Homestead was dedicated to baby chicks. We spent a lot of time trying to keep them healthy or nurse some of them back to health. We also purchased a few more because it is almost impossible to have too many chicks.
This week on the homestead, we planted Pomegranate Trees and bought chicks. The apple trees have begun to bloom and have beautiful flowers.
When we lived near San Diego we ended up with 6 chickens. The first one escaped from a neighbor and ended up staying with us since that neighbor decided to stop keeping chickens. Later we bought two more chickens, then a friend gave us three.
Adding chickens to the homestead helps in many ways outside of eggs.
